Do
You Struggle To Get Photos (And Other Images) Just Right
For Your Website Or Blog?
From
The Desk Of Ian Traynor
Wednesday, 10 March, 2010
Dear Fellow Internet Marketer
As a professional webmaster,
I'm expected to be able to carry out all the tasks associated
with websites.. both the technical and the creative aspects.
Now I'm not the world's
best when it comes to graphics - or photography. But I know
how important it is to use good quality images on a website.
It's what separates the professional websites from the amateur
sites.
And there's no doubt
that using good photographs on a website site can really
help the site to stand out from the rest. Adding just a few good photos
can turn a boring web page into an attractive, high-converting
web page.
And photos can draw the
eye to adverts, boosting the sales of almost anything. Have
a look at these two ads.. which one grabs the attention?

The one with the photograph,
of course!
Many people struggle to
get the right photographs for their websites - and when they've
got them, knowing how to tweak them so that they are exactly
right for their web pages.
Nearly all graphic
and photo editing software have one or both of the following
problems:
They
are too expensive
They
are too difficult to learn
Well, you're going to be
glad that you found this page, because here's software which
overcomes both of these problems.
It's my..
CheatKit
Photo
Wizard
My "Photo Wizard" is a powerful
package of easy-to-use tools which makes photo finding and
editing really easy.
And, as you'll see lower
down this page (if you haven't scrolled down already ),
you can get the software for an amazingly low price.
The tools are all accessed
through an simple interface in the software - and the software
needs no installation. Just open it and start using
it!
OK, since I believe that
"a picture can speak a thousand words", I'm
going to show you in pictures and videos,
all the great tools you'll get in my "Photo Wizard", starting
with:
|
Tool
#1: The Photo Finder
It can be very dangerous
- and sometimes very expensive - to do an image search
on Google and assume that you can use whatever images
you find. You could well have the lawyers coming after
you!
My "Photo
Finder" tool rapidly searches all or some of the
seven best photo sites on the net to find free
or low-cost "royalty
free" photos on any subject you choose. Here's
how it works:
Just type a keyword
or two into the tool's search box, select which sites
you want to search and hit the "Search" button.
"Photo
Finder" then shows you thumbnail images for photos
which match your selection.
Do you recognise the
coffee cup in the thumbnails on the left? That's right
- I used my "Photo Finder" tool to get the
image I used in the sample advert above.
Let me just explain
what
"royalty free" is, because there's a lot
of confusion about this term.
"Royalty-free" doesn't
always mean that the images cost nothing. It simply
means that you can use them without a time or print
run restriction.
Usually, "royalty-free"
images are very inexpensive, typically costing less
than a dollar. But some sites have royalty-free images
which cost you nothing.
"Photo
Finder" lets you choose what types of sites
to search. So you can just search the completely
free sites if you want.
So, now you've found
a suitable photo, it's time to start making it suitable
for your website, starting with.
|
|
Tool
#2: The
Photo Crop Tool
"Cropping" means
chopping of bit of the photo you don't need. Take the
coffee cup I used in the advert above, for example.
Here's what I downloaded: and
here's how I cropped it

|
|
Tool #3: The
Image Resize Tool
Almost every photograph
will need resizing before you can put it on a web page.
For example, the coffee cup image I downloaded was
a massive 2,500 x 3,900 pixels in size. I resized to
to a mere 75 x 84 pixels (after cropping it)
It
is a HUGE mistake to upload an image without resizing
it, and just changing the dimensions in the HTML. Your
visitors are faced with a BIG download which, even
with broadband, will slow your website down to a
crawl. You must resize images before
you use them on a website.
OK, here's a short
video of the Image Resize Tool in action. You'll see
that this tool can also flip and rotate your images
if you need to. And you'll also see that, if you want,
you can choose a number of resizing methods. But "standard" I
find is good enough for most purposes.
|
|
Tool #4: The
Special Effects Tool
This is fun
to use! Apart from standard - and often
necessary - tools, such as sharpening and scratch
removal, there's an array of dramatic effects you
can quickly and easily apply. A few examples are:
- Turning a photo into an oil
painting or a water colour
- Turning a photo into a mosaic
or a "stippled"
picture
- Inverting image colours
- Applying a tint
.. and a few more.
You can see them all in action in the video below.
Incidentally, you can instantly see the effect that
you've just applied, and revert back to the original
if you want to.. just by clicking buttons!

|
Tool #5: The
Photo Colour Tool
Bringing professional-quality
colour adjustment to your photos, this powerful, but
easy-to-use tool gives you precise control over
- Colours
- Contrast
- Brightness
Want to "age" your
photo? Click a button, move a slider - and
you've got a "sepia effect"
version of your photo. It's ideal for creating that
old-fashioned image.
Is your photo
too dark / too light? Just slide the brightness
control until it looks right
Does your
photo look too "flat"? Move the
contrast control to get it looking right.
Want to tweak
the colours, maybe to match your website design? No
problem. There's an array of colour adjustment tools
built in. Just move the sliders until you are satisfied.
At any time, you can
revert to your original image by clicking a button.
When you've finished, just save the changed image with
a new file name.
And if you want to
apply the same effect to every image in a
folder, just tick a box (Caution: this is a powerful
action!)
You can, of course,
combine the effects of these tools. Are are a couple
of examples of photos transformed with the Special
Effects and the Photo Colour Tools

|
|
Tool #6: The
Website Colour Tool
I believe very firmly
that, whatever you are selling online, your website
needs to look completely different from everyone else's.
It's the marketing technique known as "differentiation" -
a big word which simply means "making it different
from anything else".
"Differentiation" means
that your product can't be compared on price with other
people's products.. and some folk sell resale rights
products at ridiculously low prices.
OK, so you get a ready
made website for a product. It's one thing rewriting
the words on the site.
But how do
you alter the whole appearance of the site?
A website might have
dozens of different images. Imagine how long it would
take you to change each image. And what about the text
colours, the background colours and so on?
That's where my "Website
Colour Tool" gets to work. The controls operate
in the same way as my "Photo Colour Tool",
but it changes a complete website.. one page or many
pages. When you've got the appearance right, just hit
the "Save" button and the new-look website
will be created. The original website is kept intact.
Want to see this powerful
tool in action?

Of course, the Website
Colour Tool works just as well with website templates
as it does with the sort of ready-made sales pages
that you get with resale rights products. And there
are plenty of free templates you can download.
|

So those are the six powerful
and easy tools that are inside my "CheatKit Photo Wizard"
software. The software needs no installation. Just download
it, register it, open it - and start using it!
But that's not all I've
got for you. Included in the total package are some
valuable training resources for you..

"Graphic Design Simplified With Gimp"
The Gimp is a powerful,
completely free graphics package. It is a little quirky
to work with, but it's worth putting in a little effort
for the excellent results you'll get.
And, along with your
purchase of CheatKit Photo Wizard, I'm going to provide
you with
"Graphic Design Simplified With Gimp".

There is another free
graphics program called "IrfanView". Although
it's not as powerful as The Gimp, it is a little easier

existing images, rather than create them from scratch.

delivered by that well-known video training producer,
Louis Allport.
In these 11 videos,
you'll learn techniques such as:
How
to download and install IrfanView
How
to crop your graphics
How
to apply some very interesting effects
How
to add text to your graphics

Resale / Give-Away Rights and sales
pages to this video collection.
